Terry McLaurin has officially asked for a trade out of Washington.
He’s been the number one guy there for years, and now he wants a new contract, but the team isn’t giving it to him. Last season, with Jayden Daniels playing like one of the best QBs in the league, McLaurin still did his thing: 75 catches, 1,002 yards, and came up clutch all year.
That’s now four straight 1,000-yard seasons for Terry, no matter who’s throwing him the ball. He’s 28, in his prime, and wants to get paid like a top wideout, and honestly, he should. Football is a gruesome game. He needs his pay in his prime. So I can understand where he is coming from.
He’s still under contract for two more years, but if the Commanders won’t lock him up long term, he wants out.
Teams looking for a true WR1 should be all over this.
I do think that he will just resign, it doesn’t make sense for him to leave with finally getting a desirable situation. This can just be used as leverage for the contact situation. He is so good and, especially fantasy-wise, needs to be on the Commanders to keep his value. I like his game and hope he stays. We will watch and see how this plays out. If he is serious about this, there are some solid teams in the running to get him.
