The Toronto Blue Jays made their first move before the 2025 MLB Trade deadline. This afternoon, in between double-header games, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired Seranthony Domínguez in exchange for a prospect. Domínguez, the 30-year-old right-handed reliever, has had a solid season with a terrible Orioles team, posting a 3.24 ERA and 0.4 War in 42.2 Innings pitched. Statistically, it is one of his best seasons in his career, and hopefully for Jays fan’s he will fill the void like he did today. In the 3-2 loss to the Orioles, he came into Relief for 1 Inning, Scoring 3ks, no hits, no runs, and looking solid as ever.
The best part from a media perspective was seeing the videos of Seranthony Domínguez changing locker rooms. Domínguez is seen heading to DAP with Vladdy as he enters the locker room. Pretty cool stuff that only happens in the MLB.
After a huge hot streak, they have now lost 4 straight games. I start to worry in my mind that this team might fall into a big losing streak. I think the most important thing for this young squad is to keep hitting the baseball and having the starters give them chances to win ball games. During the 4-game losing streak, we have seen a solid amount of hitting, but the pitching has not been keeping up in any way. I think it is key that they get guys in the bullpen, but also have another option, maybe in the rotation, just in case someone gets hurt. We have seen how injury-prone this team can be. It’s going to be key for Jay’s team to make some decent moves, but let’s hope the magic stays. I don’t want to go through another playoff situation with 3 runs in 2 games or choking an 8-1 lead. It’s been too long for us fans.
